What will we do: Our 8-day adventure begins upon arrival on July 17th in the capital of Ireland: Dublin. The home of such literary giants as Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and William Yeats, we’ll offer a literary tour as well as a general walking tour of the city. Take a boat down the river Liffey, see the Book of Kells, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and visit Leprechaun museum. Then we head to Galway with stops along the way at Clonmacnoise and Athlone.
The rest of the trip will be spent on the west coast where the deep, nutrient rich Gulf Stream moves past the Irish coastline, creating the perfect environment for marine aquaculture to flourish. From our base in Galway, we'll explore ancient history at Caherconnell Fort and stand before the mysterious Poulnabrone Dolmen, a 5,000-year-old portal tomb that has watched over this limestone wilderness for millennia. At the Aillwee Burren Experience, we'll discover the region's fascinating geology and ecology before enjoying lunch at Hazel Mountain Chocolate, where artisan treats are crafted in the heart of the Burren.
Over the following days, we'll immerse ourselves in the rich culture and natural wonders of western Ireland. From exploring marine life at Galway Atlantaquaria and uncovering Celtic myths and legends to wandering Galway's colorful Latin Quarter, every day offers new discoveries. We'll spend a full day cruising to the spectacular Aran Islands and beneath the towering Cliffs of Moher, visit working oyster, salmon, and seaweed farms, watch skilled sheepdogs at work in Connemara, and meet scientists conducting cutting-edge aquaculture research. Along the way, we'll enjoy fresh local seafood, explore medieval castles, and hear Galway's darker historical tales. This unique journey combines Ireland's breathtaking landscapes, vibrant traditions, and maritime heritage into an unforgettable experience that goes far beyond the typical tourist itinerary.
