What Will We Do? Upon arrival in San Francisco, we head to Santa Cruz, where our journey begins. We’ll visit the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium and stop at the peaceful Monarch Grove Sanctuary, where thousands of monarch butterflies gather each winter. Another day you’ll take a whale-watching trip and later enjoy sunset over the Santa Cruz Pier after a tasting at Birichino Winery. We’ll also explore some of the region’s most beautiful natural areas—walking among the towering trees of Big Basin Redwoods State Park, hiking the coastal bluffs of Wilder Ranch State Park, and visiting the elephant seals that gather at Año Nuevo State Park—with wine tastings at Beauregard Vineyards and Thomas Fogarty Winery along the way.
After crossing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, we’ll spend time in the vineyards of Sonoma Valley before continuing to the scenic coastal town of Bodega Bay, where you can explore the harbor, take a 90-minute cruise, or visit sites made famous in The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. We’ll also stop at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa before finishing the trip in San Francisco, where you’ll have time to ride the historic San Francisco Cable Car System, stroll through Fisherman's Wharf, or explore the interactive exhibits at the Exploratorium. That evening, after a wonderful blend of wildlife, scenery, and great California wines, you’ll head to the airport for your red-eye flight home.
